Entrepreneurship Course

haas

Every semester at UC Berkeley, I offer a two unit “Crash Course to Entrepreneurship” class open to all undergraduate students at Berkeley. Each year the course has around 50-75 students depending on the rooms available. The class covers all aspects of starting a business, from coming up with an idea to developing a product, raising funding, marketing, and more. Students work individually or in pairs to come up with a business idea and prepare a business plan for their company. It is our goal to help some of these students actually start the businesses they create in the course.

Throughout the semester, we read excerpts from the Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki, The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, The Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, and The Last Lecture by Randy Pausche. We also invite a number of prominent speakers to come guest lecture including bestselling author Chris Anderson and Sarvesh Mahesh, the founder of Tavant Technologies, one of the largest IT Firms in the world.

Spring 2010

The Spring 2010 class will be held on Thursdays from 5-6:30 PM. A syllabus can be downloaded from here. Students interested in enrolling in the DeCal should send an e-mail to calentrepreneurshipdecal [at] gmail.com with their name, student ID number, and year. We only have around 50 spots available this semester and they are distributed on a first come first serve basis.
