Does your business have a blog? If not, why not? In today’s tech-oriented world it is no longer enough to have a simple corporate website, your business needs to have a blog. Blogging is a great way to build your brand image and become a well-respected authority in your niche.

Reputation and trustworthiness perennially rank as two of the most important factors customers consider when making a purchase and blogging is one of the easiest way to build your reputation and establish trust with potential customers and other members of your industry.

Blogging allows you to get your name out there and gives you a platform to show what you know and what you have to offer. In addition to being a great direct marketing outlet, it also has numerous SEO benefits and will help your corporate website rank higher in every search engine.

Search engines love fresh content and one of the reasons this hurts corporate websites is because they stay constant. Adding a blog will force you to add fresh content to your website. In addition, blogging and making useful posts helps with link building, another crucial factor of search engine optimization.

Now a blog where you simply talk about how great you are and why your products and services are the best in the industry is completely useless. Sure you want to promote your products, but don’t make the blog self-centered. Instead, focus on covering the entire industry. We already know that you are an expert on your business, now show that you are an expert on the industry.

If you don’t have a blog start one today. Head over to Wordpress.org, install the program on your server, pick a theme, and your ready to go. Total Time: Less than 30 minutes Total Cost: Free (unless you purchase/create a premium Wordpress theme) Total Value: Priceless

I think this is applicable on a personal level too, not just from a corporate standpoint. I think in the long run, a blog can make a nice supplemental income for anybody.

We help start-ups with business plans and we always include the importance of a company website in our materials. We are now including a section completely dedicated to having a company blog. You are correct. Not only is it a marketing strategy by being SEO savvy, it displays credibility and knowledge to a company’s existing and potential customers.
