iPhone App: Jott

Like most entrepreneurs and inventors I always have ideas running around in my head no matter where I am or what I am doing. I usually try and write most of these down with pen and paper; however, I have found that I often end up losing these valuable documents.

Recently I have started texting myself transcripts of these thoughts, but even with a full QWERTY keypad, its a hassle to transcribe everything that is going on in my mind. Hence, I present Jott, a very cool free iPhone application that you can use to record and store audio files full of your latest ideas and thoughts.

According to the company website, “Jott for iPhone puts the power of Jott voice-to-text conversion just a couple of taps away. With Jott for iPhone, you can use your voice to, send emails and texts to your iPhone contacts and Jott groups, take notes, set reminders, and manage your lists, post to Google Calendar, Twitter, Facebook, and more web services.”

The app is free but you will need a Jott.com account to use it.

Personally I would only use the app to record voice notes since voice-to-text translation for responding to texts and e-mails seems unnecessary and unnatural; however, I do like the fact that Jott will transcribe my voice notes into text.

You can download the app here.

Thats really cool.

Someone listening to you speaking into your phone might steal the next greatest business idea or invention, haha.

Well.. it is a way to take memos of your ideas, but I have tried out voice-to-text programs and even expensive ones like Nuance’s Naturally Speaking have been a hassle to work with effectively in my experience.
