CNN News 2.0: Let Someone Else Do It

If any of you are watching CNN News in recent months, you’ve seen that they have been doing less and less actual reporting and increasing use of input from social media websites like Facebook and Twitter, just posting what everyone else says, regradless of who it is or how verified the information may be.

They have taken this to a new level with coverage of the Iran election, relying heavily on updates from sites like Twitter to report what is going on. However, it has gotten just rediculous to the point where network anchors said literally “we don’t know how verified this information is”.

I get that utilizing the web is the future of all media forms, but seriously, CNN is a news network, they should actually report their own news. I know that political restrictions make it difficult for Western journalists to be in the area but this applies to coverage of all news topics. Utilize the web a little, but no one wants to see a broadcast full of what random Twitter and Facebook users are saying with little actual reporting.
