Doing Something Different: Pay what you want Agency

June 9th, 2009 in Entrepreneurship

They say in business that differentiation is key. Most of the start-ups I come across have slight tweaks on existing business models but nothing special, so it always refreshing to come across a business that really sways off the beaten path.

I really came across a new advertising agency, Agency Nil. The firm provides brand management, art direction, copywriting, design, social media architecture, and more all for the price of whatever you want.

The firm completes all work and allows clients decide what the work is worth and pay that amount. The agency’s founder, recent college graduate Hank Leber, says the service the perfect fix for company’s in this downturn economy who can’t afford the expensive fees of many freelancers and don’t want to deal with having to hire and train interns.

The firm is also a clear example of how college graduate and using their skills to create unique revenue opportunities in this downturn economy where even entry-level jobs are tough to come by. Instead of searching for a advertising job and working his way up the career ladder, Hank found his entrepreneurial spirit and started a truly unique boutique agency.

I suggest you take a look at the company website as well. It is a great example of the chic unique creative web designs many advertising agencies use.

I tried this idea to sell my books. People can pay whatever they want for the books, including $0. Everyone who purchased paid the full suggested donation but the volume was not high, and marketing expert said I would have more success with high, firm prices because people equate value with price. Go figure. But it’s a model I love and I will try things like pay after you purchase, or full return of funds.

You have nice blog…thanks.

Ya that’s a cool,
If You read Freakonomics, there is a similar idea with a guy selling bagels…

Isn’t the minimum price 10% of what you think the end result would be worth to you if you were completely satisfied? Unless that is refundable as well…

nice blog Aditya
